It’s actually a fair question. Why would a middle aged man start a blog? I can assure you that it is not for money and it is certainly not for fame. Then what? I can only answer that question based on what I know today….next year, or even tomorrow might be different but today I write because my writing is the expression of what I feel and it is the outlet for the joy, the peace, the frustration, the hurt and even the anger that I sometimes feel. In addition, I guess I need to do this because I want to express myself in ways that can’t be hidden. The written word is declarative and is hard to retract. A conversation might be misunderstood but a thoughtful written phrase is very revealing.
In my blog I will write about and tackle all of the subjects that are important to me and in some cases I will deal with things that just simply annoy me. I vow to be true to myself and true to my readers. I will not hold back and I will not avoid difficult subjects that might be controversial or sensitive. You will learn quickly that I missed the seminar on political correctness, yet I hope to be fair in my judgments, sensitive in my critiques, and compassionate in those subjects that deserve such. I will share my heart on topics that range from comical to current social issues and I am sure I will have plenty to write about my son’s struggle with mental illness as our lives have been dominated by the effects of his pain and suffering.
Finally, while I write as an outlet for my own soul, I hope along the journey that someone somewhere will be touched by my words in a manner that will help them in some special way. Maybe a laugh….maybe a tear…maybe something that will encourage…..maybe something that will spark a flame of faith.
I will write. Some will read, some will understand, some will hate…..but all are welcomed.
